BUIDERS École d'ingénieurs Cursus 2023

The à la carte pathway is a real strength of your training at BUILDERS École d'ingénieurs!

The construction and public works sector offers a wide variety of career paths, and for many years now has offered high levels of employability. However, if you want to define your career path from the outset, in the second year of the engineering cycle you should choose the ‘Decarbonised Public Works’ or ‘Sustainable and Intelligent Buildings’ option. These two options will enable you to discover the two major areas of public works and construction, with their emphasis on preserving resources, using eco-materials and tackling the ecological transition through sustainable construction.

In the final year of the engineering cycle, you can choose from a wide range of specialities and courses. This is when you can personalise your course by choosing specialisation courses in line with your ambitions and career plans.

Specialisations, options, careers: the Construction Engineering course offers a wide range of possibilities.

Here are the 6 specialisations

  • Maritime infrastructure: development and installation of wind turbines and tidal turbines, construction and maintenance of ports, etc. The sea represents a new horizon for economic development, a source of green energy and a communications route.
  • Land Infrastructures Soft Mobility: Roads, motorways, public transport, railways, optical fibres, etc. Reducing environmental impact through the development of alternative materials and innovative techniques, life cycle analysis, etc.
  • Urban planning: Designing the new city of tomorrow, urban planning, optimising space, combating heat islands, air quality, connected city, etc.
  • Architecture: Designing smart and connected housing, eco-design, architectural modelling, Building information modeling BIM e openBIM by bSFrance (2021-2024).
  • ESITC Caen label openBIM de bSFrance
  • Decarbonised energy (nuclear): Design/construction of complex industrial projects for energy production: wind turbines, photovoltaic farms, hydroelectric and nuclear power plants, etc.
  • Eco-construction: Energy renovation, heritage rehabilitation, low-carbon construction, positive-energy buildings, eco-materials, life-cycle analysis, etc.

Courses available at BUILDERS Engineering school :  Engineering and design: Future engineers are trained in the design of structures, using digital mock-ups, with a global and sustainable approach to construction (the structure's life cycle).

R&D: Future engineers are trained in technical and technological monitoring in connection with the ecological transition and in research into materials and resources for sustainable construction.

Construction management: Future engineers are trained in construction management, integrating the optimisation of construction methods and lean management applied to construction, all in a collaborative BIM work environment.

Real Estate: Future engineers are trained to manage the urbanisation of the city of the future by designing structures in line with a sustainable development policy and an eco-design and eco-construction approach.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation: Future engineers are trained in the creation/takeover of construction and public works companies, with innovation as the guiding principle and a double degree in engineering and management at the end BUILDERS École d'ingénieurs - EM Normandie

Architecture Engineering: Future engineers are trained in the architectural design of sustainable, eco-designed buildings in a smart, connected environment. This course can lead to a double engineer-architect diploma at BUILDERS École d'ingénieurs - Ecole d'architecture in France or abroad.

One of the strengths of BUILDERS engineering school courses is that they are tailored to the needs of companies. The aim is to put the acquisition of skills into practice in a very practical way, through numerous internships and practical projects.

Internships Construction Engineering Programme

From work placements to design office placements and international placements, work placements are an essential part of the curriculum. They account for more than a third of training time, more than a year spent in a company (16 months minimum) for the Construction Engineering programme.

Students at BUILDERS School of Engineering can opt for a range of double degrees. The aim is to acquire dual skills that will be invaluable on the job market.

Depending on your profile and your career plans, various double engineering degrees are available:

Double degree - Engineer - Manager

You want to set up your own business or take over an existing one. The ‘Engineer-Manager’ double degree is for you!

In the 2nd year of the Engineering Cycle, you can choose the ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation’ course, run in partnership with EM Normandie.

Gradually, student engineers (also available as apprentices, student engineers is more generic) will acquire skills in business management, human relations and accounting and management: skills that are essential if you are to become a future business leader.

In addition to these courses, students will be required to carry out a project to take over or set up a company.

International Curriculum or International Curriculum of Excellence

Do you dream of seeing more of the world?

It's possible to spend a semester abroad. During the last semester of the second year of the engineering cycle and the first of the final year, you can spend a semester studying at one of our partner universities.

BUILDERS School of Engineering offers a progressive curriculum leading to a Construction Engineering degree in 3 or 5 years. The programme below is a simplified presentation of the study plans.

Entrance to the first year after the bac is open to applicants from the Terminale générale and STI2D via the Parcoursup platform in the ‘Engineering training’ category.

TERMINALES GENERALES

Registration: from 15 January 2025 on the Parcoursup portal and creation of my wish list by 13 March 2025. Whatever the number of campuses chosen, they will only count as one wish on the Parcoursup portal.

Examination of applications: report card marks from Première and the first 2 terms of Terminale + continuous assessment marks + French bac marks and marks for the 2 specialities in Terminale. The best candidates are declared ‘Grands Classés’ and exempt from the written tests.

Written tests (see diagram below): all candidates who are not ‘Grands Classés’ sit the tests, which will take place on Saturday 03 May 2025.

Final ranking of all candidates: based on the marks awarded for their academic record (40%) and those obtained in the written tests (60%). You will receive an admission decision for each of the campuses selected on Parcoursup on 2 June 2025.

FOR STI2D FINAL YEAR STUDENTS

Registration: from 15 January 2025 on the Parcoursup portal and creation of my wish list by 13 March 2025. Whatever the number of campuses chosen, they will only count as one wish on the Parcoursup portal.
