The REUSE Origin project is part of an engineering approach designed to meet local environmental and industrial challenges. Its aim is to recover cooking water from a food processing site (Amand Terroir) by reusing it in the manufacture of ready-mix concrete (RMC), in compliance with standard NF EN 1008. This innovative initiative will limit the use of drinking water by CEMEX, a construction and public works company based in the Vire Normandie area.
REUSE Origin is developing a technological demonstrator capable of treating food effluent at high temperatures and with a high fat and salt content. The aim of the demonstrator is to produce treated water that is compatible with concrete formulations. The project stands out for its innovative nature at the crossroads of effluent decontamination, the circular economy and sustainable construction.
BUILDERS École d'Ingénieurs is acting as the project's technical and academic partner. The school is contributing to the structuring of the demonstrator, the planning of engineering work and the scientific monitoring of experiments linked to water treatment. BUILDERS also plays a role in coordinating exchanges between the various partners.
The REUSE Origin project has a budget of €185,640, 40% of which is being funded by the Normandy Region and 60% by the Normandy ERDF ESF+JTF programme.
