2024 - 2027: Offshore Accelerator for System Integration and Storage

The OASIS project, led by the Dutch Marine Energy Centre, aims to create a robust and sustainable ecosystem for innovation in offshore energy, by supporting SMEs and promoting transnational collaboration. The idea is to train SMEs using companies and organisations that already have experience, in order to extend skills and knowledge to local players. The involvement of BUILDERS School of Engineering in this project will strengthen the skills of our students and our network, while contributing to the energy transition of the North Sea Region.

Objectives of the project

  • Improving the capacity of SMEs: Developing innovative solutions for systems integration and offshore energy storage in the North Sea Region by exchanging tools and knowledge across borders.
  • Contributing to the energy transition: Supporting the sustainable growth of the offshore wind industry and its supply chain.
  • Digitalisation: Supporting digital storage and control technologies to integrate offshore energy into the grid.
  • Supporting the energy transition: Helping SMEs to overcome the challenges of grid integration and investment, by developing innovative solutions for storage and the integration of offshore systems.
  • Ecology and sustainability: Including sustainability and biodiversity in the development of technologies to protect the marine ecosystem.

Project progress

  • WP1: Accelerator structure
  • WP2: Use cases and market research
  • WP3: Piloting the OASIS

The expected results of the project are as follows:

  • 30 SMEs supported and trained to develop innovative solutions.
  • 7 Calls for Projects organised in all the countries of the North Sea Region.
  • 7 accelerator pilots and pitching sessions to connect SMEs with market stakeholders.
  • Strategies and action plans developed for the integration and storage of offshore energy.

Involvement of BUILDERS École d'Ingénieurs

As an academic partner in the project, BUILDERS École d'Ingénieurs, with the participation of its network, will be involved in the following actions:

  • Organisation of events: Workshops and workshops linked to the OASIS accelerator.
  • Masterclasses: Courses on offshore energy use cases.
  • Coaching: Support and assessment for SMEs.
  • Contribution to governance: Participation in structuring and coordinating the accelerator.
