Training programme Construction Engineer

The engineer BUILDERS benefits from a training complete in civil engineering covering all stages in the life cycle of a structure: from design to deconstruction, maintenance and renovation. Thanks to studies focused on innovation and sustainable construction, In this way, future engineers will acquire skills adapted to today's environmental challenges.

Integrated Prep :

Training BUILDERS Engineering school is concrete from the 1ʳᵉ year.

It combines fundamental subjects, innovative learning (BIM, bio-sourced materials, connected structures, etc.) and courses linked to the construction (topography, technical drawing, etc.). Through work placements, international experience, sports and community projects, students develop operational and multi-skilled skills.

Here are the different courses and subjects for the first two years at BUILDERS Engineering School:

SOCIAL AND ECOLOGICAL ISSUES

  • Prospects and transition scenarios in the BTP
  • Introduction to the Anthropocene era and its impact on the environment construction
  • Climate and geopolitical issues applied to infrastructures

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND SOCIAL PROJECTS

  • Integrate the objectives of sustainable development (SDGs) in development projects construction
  • Mastering the challenges of renovation energy
  • Reducing the embodied energy of materials for a construction more responsible
  • Encouraging biodiversity in urban planning projects

The engineer is also working on the adoption of new methods of collaboration, placing the sustainable development and the social responsibility at the heart of industry practices BTP.

APPLIED SCIENCES

  • Study of materials wood, concrete, metal and bio-sourced materials
  • Structure of the material and strength of materials
  • Technical drawing and computer-aided design (CAD)
  • Topography applied to construction projects
  • Energy, thermal and thermodynamic

BASIC SCIENCES

  • Mathematics applied to BTP
  • Physics solid mechanics, electricity and electrical engineering
  • Fluid mechanics, hydraulics and structural design
  • Acoustics and wave physics in buildings

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CROSS-DISCIPLINARY SKILLS

  • Sport and stress management for greater resilience
  • Control of languages (English and LV2) to progress to International
  • Construction of the career plan and portfolio
  • Communication, methodology and environmental and social approach

The preparatory cycle is a misnomer. Once you join BUILDERS Ecole d'ingénieurs you don't have to sit a competitive entrance exam after two years! No ranking, no selection, you have to validate your credits to go on to the next year, but all the options are open to you.

Construction Engineer
In the first year of the Builders preparatory course, I like the teaching approach, which combines lectures, site visits and workshops. The programme provides a solid foundation, with practical projects starting in the first year. I'm approaching this new year with more confidence: the supervision and mutual support between students have really helped me to progress.

Engineering Cycle

The engineering cycle of BUILDERS is spread over three years and combines technical courses, projects, courses and international mobility. It trains engineers able to manage projects at company, in France as at the’foreign, thanks to a training solid in engineering, sciences and management.

At this stage, students can follow the following curriculum under student or apprentice status.

In year 3ᵉ, in addition to the core curriculum, projects are integrated into the training programme to help you learn by doing:

    • Projects integrated design in building and civil engineering
    • Workshops to experiment with innovative solutions
    • Case studies and practical work situations
  • Environmentally and socially responsible conduct projects

Students also learn about construction management.

From the 4ᵉ year, students from BUILDERS orient their career path according to their professional ambitions by choosing to develop civil engineering skills around two major themes:

  • Carbon-free public works
  • Sustainable and intelligent buildings

In the 5th year, students deepen their skills and specialise in courses tailored to the challenges of building and public works and construction project management.

They choose a path coupled with a speciality:

Course :

  • Engineering and studies
  • Construction management
  • Entrepreneurship and innovation
  • Real estate
  • Research and Development (R&D) :

Specialities

  • Maritime infrastructures
  • Land infrastructure and soft mobility
  • Town planning - architecture
  • Energy Decarbonised (nuclear)
  • Eco-construction - energy renovation

Head of Engineering Cycle
The engineering cycle at BUILDERS is designed to give our students real-life experience from the 3rd year onwards. Through projects, work placements and international exposure, they acquire solid technical skills as well as a real ability to work in a team, adapt and innovate. Our aim is to train engineers who are responsible, committed and operational in their first job.

Courses

The engineering internships are an essential component of the curriculum at BUILDERS Engineering School. They enable students to put into practice their technical skills and managerial while integrating into an environment professional at France or the'foreign.

Students are immersed in a construction site to become part of the teams, understand the reality of the site, its hierarchical structure and learn about safety.

2nd year Construction Engineer
I did my work placement with Eiffage Construction in Le Mans, a rewarding experience that gave me an insight into how a site works and the role of the various trades. This immersion helped me to better understand the challenges of the job of site supervisor, particularly in terms of management and communication. It was a formative experience that strengthened my motivation for the rest of my studies.

While discovering a new culture, the student will need to be able to adapt and demonstrate openness and curiosity. Fluency in English will be tested on return.

On a building site, students are gradually put in a team management position and given the tasks of a site supervisor.

Future engineers will be responsible for calculating the dimensions of construction elements.

Often innovative, the specifications of the EFP guarantee that the student will carry out a service entrusted to them by the company. It is a real springboard for entry into working life.

Learning

The school offers a engineering apprenticeship recognised by the Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur (CTI) from the 1st year of the engineering cycle.

Our programme is designed to provide you with a comprehensive, all-round education covering the key areas of engineering.
