CAP

Entering the’higher education marks a decisive stage in students' lives. It profoundly transforms the relationship with learning, social interaction and the construction of identity. This transition is even more significant when it is accompanied by the choice of a specialist training, as the Public works and sustainable construction, proposed by BUILDERS School of Engineering.

A key transition to higher education

To support its new entrants and facilitate their integration, BUILDERS has designed CAP’ (Cohesion, Acculturation and Professionalisation), an innovative teaching method that encourages social integration, acculturation to the building and civil engineering sector and skills development.

What is the CAP scheme?

CAP is part of the DDRS strategy (Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility) and is based on four major objectives:

  • Facilitating student integration strengthening group cohesion
  • Discover the building and civil engineering sector and its environmental challenges
  •  Developing a learning culture using active teaching methods
  •  Promoting the values of citizenship and social commitment

The approach adopted is immersive, interactive and disruptive, with innovative teaching formats to capture students' interest and stimulate their commitment.

A programme based on immersive learning experiences

Immersive experiences and innovative teaching methods

  • Interactive workshops photolanguage, collaborative murals, passe-parole, Rube Goldberg machines
  • Conferences, debates and round tables on building and public works and the ecological transition

CAP is based on the work of the Department of Pedagogical Innovation (DIP) BUILDERS School of Engineering, in particular through :

  •  InEDi project a collaborative programme between six Caen north campus, to promote inclusion, equality and tolerance, and to prevent gender-based and sexual violence (GBV).
  •  GaLaADD project a Game Lab dedicated to learning about sustainable development, offering fun educational resources on eco-responsible construction and the ecological transition.
  •  BUILDERS wins the CGE Teaching Innovation Prize
Thanks to GaLaADD, BUILDERS École d'Ingénieurs has been rewarded for its commitment to the’innovative and sustainable education.
